Mike Cotty climbs Stelvio Pass - The Road to Mont-Blanc

Mike Cotty has a knack for riding long distances. Really, really long distances. So, when he aimed for a nonstop 1000km (629 mi) ride that would take him across 21 mountain passes with 21,250m (69,718 ft) of elevation gain, people took notice. A daunting task that would require two sleepless nights, riding through pouring rain and darkness and chilly mornings in some of the most picturesque mountains for cycling in the world.

The passes conquered included a list of “who’s who” of legendary climbs:

  • Passo San Boldo
  • Forcella Franche
  • Passo Duran
  • Forcella Staulanza
  • Passo di Falzarego
  • Passo di Giau
  • Passo di Pordoi
  • Passo di Costalunga
  • Passo dello Stelvio
  • Passo di Gavia
  • Passo dell’Aprica
  • Bernina Pass
  • Maloja Pass
  • Splügen Pass
  • San Bernardino Pass
  • Lukmanier Pass
  • Oberalp Pass
  • Gottard Pass
  • Nufenen Pass
  • Col de la Forclaz
  • Col des Montets

Kudos to Mike as he accomplished the Road to Mont-Blanc in 50 hours and 29 minutes — with only 3 hours of total break time. Well done and such a beautiful video. Photograph is courtesy Nicolas Jutzi.
