In a bold move, BH Bikes is re-vamping their G6 aero road bike and introducing an all-new G7 that’s disc only. Yup, an aero road bike with discs. All the traditionalists will be griping about the additional drag, “slow” wheel changes and such, but those who know will be enjoying a fast and tour-capable road bike. Well, if you are an aggressive rider, that is.
The new G7 adopts what appears to be the clear winner for road disc brakes: 12mm thru axles (front/rear) and flat mount disc brakes. In talking with much of the industry, this is what most folks feel will win the disc wars — but don’t hold your breath. That said, I do agree that it is the most logical choice.
By going with thru axles, and discs, the G7 won’t get UCI approved until they sort through the current mess, but those not racing will enjoy it for being slippery, smooth and a quick stopper on all road types and conditions.
