Yeti has had a gap in their trail-focused lineup for several years. For 2015, they aim to fill that gap with the all-new ASRc. As with previous models, the bike uses size-specific wheels to get the right fit. That means that the XS and SM sizes will roll on 27.5’s while the MD, LG and XL will roll on 29-inch hoops.
The look of the frame screams Yeti — down to the signature “loopstays”. With a lightweight frame that utilizes an optimized single-pivot design and a custom-tuned Fox Float CTD, the ASRC is built to rocket uphill. But, with a relatively-slack head angle, it stays true to Yeti’s roots by delivering a capable downhill ride that borderlines enduro.
Some key features of the ASRc:
- 102mm rear travel via refined single pivot
- High modulus carbon fiber front and rear triangles with carbon link
- Internal cable routing
- Accommodates stealth dropper post
- Direct mount front derailleur (not sure why this is even on there)
- PF30 bottom bracket
- Builds include Fox Float 32 120 Factory fork
- Colors: Torquoise, Black
- Frame weight: 4.2 lbs
- Build Kits: $5799 for X01 (23.1 lbs) or $9999 for XX1 (22.3 lbs)
While some may still want to put a front derailleur up front, we can’t help but wonder why they even worry about accommodating one. Since it is only offered in 1×11 build kits, why not ditch the derailleur entirely?
Looking over the kits, the X01 kit at 23.1 lbs and $5799 is a real bargain by today’s standards. And the weight is astoundingly svelte as well. Well done, Yeti!
