Carbon hoops are coming out of the woodwork and prices are falling. Niner’s not one to race to the bottom — on either weight or price — but their new carbon wheel line offers a huge bang-for-the-buck.
The rim profile is no slouch either. With a wider 22.5mm inner width and 28.5mm outer, you’ll get a straighter sidewall and better tubeless performance. These wheels will come standard aboard the top-end Niner offerings and provide a unified Niner look across the entire bike with coordinating RDO cockpit bits throughout.
Carbon rims offer extra stiffness with lower rotational weight at the perimeter (where it counts most). One of the other under-hyped benefits is how quiet carbon hoops are on the trail. Trail chatter is smoothed and any flying rocks don’t result in a resonating “ting” like they do with aluminum rims.
Don’t consider these to be Niner-only as the price and performance is worthy of any XC race or trailbike on the market.

The Bottom Line
If you’re looking for a nice set of carbon hoops for your 29er, the tubeless-ready Niner Carbon MTB wheels are only marginally more expensive than aluminum offerings on the market. With a 22.5mm width and a $1399 price, these are certainly worth a look.
