Going Gravel? Check out the Argon 18 Krypton Xroad

Argon 18 has been around for 15 years, but you may not have heard of them. Born out of the cycling hotbed of Quebec, Canada, Argon 18 has some pretty nifty innovations and has built carbon fiber bikes from the get-go.

This time, Argon 18 is announcing a new Krypton Xroad — an all-duty road/gravel bike with relaxed geometry and additional comfort when the pavement turns to dirt. These kinds of bikes really have a lot of promise as cyclists demand more from their bikes. With the Specialized Diverge, BMC GF02, GT Grade and others coming online, the Krypton Xroad will have a soft landing in the market.

Here are a handful of XRoad highlights:

  • 3D Headtube for un-compromised stiffness for any rider position
  • 27.2 seatpost diameter for improved compliance
  • 1190 gram frame weight (not svelte, but built durable)
  • 32mm tire clearance
  • BB86 bottom bracket
  • Disc brakes only
  • Standard front and rear dropouts

Going from road to gravel and back again, is an awesome way to change things up and we’re fully-supportive of the latest crop of gravel grinders or “all-road” bikes.
