2015 is a big year for BMC. They have realized that their prices have pushed them upmarket and priced out many consumers. That panache is good to have, but to get the meat of the market, you’ve got to have competitive prices.
Just chopping prices alone won’t do and BMC knows that. So, a fleet of Swiss engineers carefully developed the Teammachine SLR03 with the purpose of serving the enthusiast market. Utilizing the same geometry as the SLR02, but with a revised carbon layup that comes in at 1230 grams (frame only) — acceptable weight for the category.
Of course, the SLR03 retains all the industrial design language that’s signature to the brand. Core design principles also include the Tuned Compliance Concept (TCC) to add to all-day comfort — all the way down to a size 47cm, which is their smallest frame size in the Teammachine line.
Key SLR03 105 Features:
- Full Shimano 105 drivetrain
- Carbon frameset and fork
- 18.5 lb complete
- MSRP: $2299
The Bottom Line
Finally, BMC’s legendary design and performance can be had at a price point that the bulk of the market can afford.
